CARLO GIOBBI OPENS THE DOORS TO THE “SECOND GENERATION” OF SICAM

It is time to open the doors to the second generation of SICAM to my children Carolina and Michele, and involve them in an even stronger and more direct way in the management of this beautiful fair which, thanks to the exhibitors and visitors who choose us every year, has become a consolidated point of reference in the international calendar of exhibitions”.

With these words Carlo Giobbi – founder of SICAM, the international exhibition of components, accessories and semi-finished products for the furniture industry – announced that he wanted to give continuity and further impetus to the event by involving Carolina and Michele Giobbi in an even stronger and more direct way, always alongside his father in this endeavor.

The news – communicated to the numerous journalists present at the opening press conference of SICAM 2023, which took place from 17 to 20 October – was greeted with long and moving applause. Carlo Giobbi immediately wanted to clarify that this is certainly not a handover, but the dutiful recognition of the work done by his children in recent years and an incitement to continue a highly successful path in a time that requires fair organizers to be up to date with the transformations underway.

“We must look to the future, demonstrating that we have the will and energy to enrich our position as an effective meeting point between people with new content,” concluded Giobbi. “The vision, skills and experience of Carolina and Michele will allow us, I am sure, to continue to represent a quality experience and a concrete business opportunity for the world of furniture supplies”.

SICAM 2023 convinces again

THE INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE SECTOR RECOGNIZES THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SICAM FORMAT

The 14th edition of SICAM, which was held in Pordenone from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th October, ended with a response beyond the best expectations: with more than 650 exhibitors from Italy and 34 foreign countries, the show marked a real confirmation of the strength and liveliness of the components and accessories sector for the furniture industry, marking the moment of choices and decisions for the furniture that will be proposed in the main international exhibitions of the next year.

There were around 9,000 companies, for a total of well over 20,000 attendees in the four opening days, who from 112 countries all over the world showed up at the fair in Pordenone to meet their best suppliers: in the 18,420 m2 net of the ten halls, many new novelties are proposed in all sectors of the supply chain. As always, high-profile business meetings and commercial relations were the characterizing feature of the Show: “They confirmed themselves as a strong point of the SICAM format” underlined Carlo Giobbi in this regard, who took the opportunity of this edition to announce the handover of the management of SICAM to Carolina Giobbi and Michele Giobbi.

SICAM is a complex but very high-performance machine: the companies that participate, both as exhibitors and visitors, continue to confirm a very high loyalty rate. Already at the end of these four days of the fair, the organizers received more applications than in the past to participate in the next edition: a clear and unequivocal signal that the market itself continues to provide, seeing in the effectiveness of the Fair, in its timing and in its location in the heart of North East the set of factors that makes it chosen every year as the ideal meeting point.

Interest and a lot of curiosity around the debut of “Enjoy Pordenone with SICAM“, the platform created by the Municipality of Pordenone to celebrate a fair that attracts thousands of people who were able to participate in over 90 appointments, meetings, exhibitions and initiatives in the city center.

The appointment for the 2024 edition is therefore already set in Pordenone, from Tuesday 15th to Friday 18th October.

2023: SICAM RECORD-BREAKING EVENT

FROM 17TH TO 20TH OCTOBER THE APPOINTMENT WITH THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION, NOW IN ITS 14TH EDITION, IS RENEWED

2023 will be another ‘record year‘ for SICAM, the International Exhibition of Components, Accessories and Semi-finished Products for the Furniture Industry.
First of all, the next edition will be bigger, over 18,000 square metres, thanks to the investments decided by the Pordenone Exhibition Centre to create the extension of hall 5.

An exhibition that will once again show all its pluses: starting with the fact that it will be held in October, perfect for the furniture world to experience first-hand new materials and solutions that will be among the focuses of the “furniture springs” in the following year, especially for the more “technical” biennial events, linked to the kitchen environment, scheduled for 2024.

A formula that has convinced the 650 exhibitors who will animate the 2023 edition, another figure that has been steadily growing since the event’s inception (there were 350 exhibitors in 2009) and which confirms how much the formula devised by the organizers meets the needs of exhibitors and proves to be absolutely “attractive” for visitors, who also grew steadily: 8,475 companies visited the last edition.

“We have never believed that organizing trade fairs was just a business,” comments Carlo Giobbi, patron of the event. “Giving a service is the real key to our success, guaranteeing a ‘useful’ moment every year, with continuity: an appointment that contributes to giving a precise cadence to all the sectors involved, in which everyone knows they can meet everyone and have at their disposal a very rich, effective, convenient showcase at the best time of the year to plan the furniture supplies to come”.

An exhibition that since 15 years been satisfying the market’s need for a concrete appointment, where the product is in the foreground, where architects, designers, retailers, manufacturers, furniture makers meet focusing on innovation, on the search for the product or solution that can enable them to define new furnishing ideas.

“Over the years we have learned from our exhibitors and visitors how to make SICAM more and more effective,” adds Michele Giobbi. “Italy is a paradigm in the global furniture industry and creating an appointment where supply can meet such an important demand was our priority. However, we immediately realized how much the value of SICAM was appreciated worldwide, far beyond our best expectations, and today we propose an appointment that welcomes exhibitors and visitors from all over the world – 115 countries visited SICAM 2022.

Another plus of SICAM is undoubtedly the fact that it has always maintained absolute consistency in terms of the admitted product groups: the success of the exhibition has not prompted the organizers to throw the doors wide open to ‘collateral offers’ as well, and the result is a consistent event, which shines the spotlight on everything that “is furniture”, which has always been the exhibition’s core business.

“SICAM is a technical fair, which comes from a deep knowledge of the interpreters of the sectors present at the fair and their products,” adds Carlo Giobbi. “This specificity is a lesson we have learned in our long fair experience, even in different sectors. You cannot improvise, a space in any city and a few relationships are not enough to create an event that really satisfies exhibitors and visitors, that convinces them to return to the fair year after year. And entrepreneurs know this very well.”

“The people you meet at SICAM are the real heart of SICAM, the value it expresses in market dynamics,” Carolina Giobbi concludes. “They are the ones who decree the success of an appointment that is renewed every year and creates new possibilities, where a hundred journalists and international opinion leaders come to inform themselves, to dialogue, completing this moment of business by transforming it into a platform for communication, information and sharing.”

Appointment, then, in Pordenone, 17th to 20th October, at SICAM: where technology meets design!

Expectations are already high for SICAM 2023

COMPONENTS AND ACCESSORIES AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL WILL BE ON SHOW IN PORDENONE: THIS YEARS MANY NOVELTIES FOR THE FOURTEENTH EDITION

The next SICAM 2023 is already practically sold out: with a reconfirmation rate that, as always, is very high (the 90% reconfirmation threshold has been exceeded for the next edition as well). The Pordenone exhibition has now completed the assignment of stand spaces, with six months still to go until the opening date. An increasingly global and comprehensive panorama of international components and accessories will be presented by SICAM next October to the furniture industry companies coming from all over the world to exhibit in Pordenone. With the numbers and the high quality of visiting professionals that it always attracts, with over 600 companies expected on show to present their latest products, SICAM 2023 once again promises to be an effective appointment for defining the choices of materials and design for the 2024 furniture season.

The novelty of an extended and renewed exhibition space
SICAM 2023 will welcome its visitors and exhibitors with a new layout, right in the heart of the Trade Fair District. In fact, Pordenone Fiere has already started work on the construction of a new two-module structure destined to integrate the central hall 5, which will consequently have a more extended layout and will, among other things, have its own bar, like all the other halls. Three thousand square metres of additional exhibition space will be made available, and accessed directly from the central entrance of the Exhibition Centre. This space will be complete with full services, and will be set up entirely according to the classic SICAM exhibition format. The new structure will be connected to halls 4 and 6 and to the reception area of the Central Entrance of Pordenone Fiere through new walkways.

Intensive and diversified international promotion activities
SICAM 2023’s promotional campaign through the world’s leading furnishing and design trade fairs is also in full swing: in the first few months of the year, the Exposicam team has already been present at “Maison & Objet” in Paris, “Kbis” in Las Vegas, “Euroshop” in Düsseldorf, as well as the Indian trade fair “Delhiwood” and “MeM Industrial” in Mexico City. Interest in the Pordenone exhibition is growing everywhere, and new target operators are being contacted directly. The last edition of SICAM saw a further increase in the number of foreign countries from which visitors were registered, reaching a record number of 116, and the most concrete premise for developing new international business relationships at the exhibition. SICAM will also be present at the approaching Interzum in Cologne, to meet the accessory and component companies present at the exhibition and those visiting, with an information point with a stand on the Boulevard (B070) at the entrance to Hall 5.

A new logo: a new image to promote continuity
Another new feature that SICAM 2023 is presenting to its exhibitors and visitors is related to its image, in the form of a new stylised logo that will distinguish the exhibition’s communication from this season onwards. A monochromatic logo, minimalist and unadulterated, iconic if you like and with a high visual impact: black or white, depending on the background colour on which it will be reproduced. A choice of colours linked both to more immediate visibility in online communications and to the quest to best represent SICAM’s own characteristics. Impersonal but powerful, white is in fact that “non-colour” that is associated par excellence with minimalism, with aesthetic taste. The same applies to black, another colour that has always been associated with a sense of refinement and elegance. In the purest “SICAM style”.

A wood-furniture supply chain in robust health
2023 has started well for the Italian furniture industry, perhaps better than expected, although uncertainty (linked above all to the continuation of the war between Russia and Ukraine and its effects on energy and raw material costs and therefore on margins) still remains a very strong factor. 2022 was a positive year for the furniture industry, which closed with a double-digit growth in the value of production of the entire wood-furniture sector (+12.7% over 2021), reaching a record figure of 57 billion euros (of which approximately 29 billion was for the furniture macro-system). Exports by the individual wood-furniture sector, which accounts for 41% of total production, were already up 14% on 2021 as of 30th September 2022. The European furniture market, which together with the United States is the most relevant trade target for Italian production in the sector, grew to reach almost EUR 120 billion in 2022: Germany, the United Kingdom and France remain the countries with the most interesting values.

Wood-furniture companies in Triveneto are confirmed as being brilliant
In this context, the growth of the furniture and home system sector in the provinces of Triveneto is confirmed as being highly dynamic (+11.4% in Veneto and +19.5% in Friuli-Venezia Giulia), with the Pordenone Furniture District in the spotlight (it recorded an increase of Euro 253.6 million in the period January-September 2022, equal to an increase of 27.9%). This is what has emerged from the recent Report on the Italian Industrial Districts drawn up by Intesa San Paolo. In Veneto, among the districts of the home system, the wood-furnishing district of Treviso showed the strongest growth (+13.0%) thanks to sales in the main European outlet markets (Germany, United Kingdom and France), in Korea and in the Middle East (Qatar and Saudi Arabia). For Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Pordenone Furniture achieved the best results in the United States (+60%), the United Kingdom (+25%) and Spain (+67%); Poland was also in the spotlight, with a jump in sales that more than doubled those of the same period in 2021 (+126%).
